In Year Movements

HMRC state that employers who employ 50 or more employees must submit all In Year Movements online from 6 April 2009.  For companies with fewer than 50 employees it will become mandatory in April 2011.

The forms you are required to send electronically are:


To enable the In-Year Movements feature you need to follow three simple steps (these are explained fully in the pages that follow).

  1. Register with HMRC for Online Services (if you have not already)
  2. Tick the Enable In Year Online Services tickbox in File | Online Services | Configure
  3. Send a Works Number Update (WNU) to HMRC

Once In Year Movements have been enabled a new button will appear in the Employee Details | Tax/NI screen allowing you to enter the P45 or P46 information and then submit it electronically to HMRC.
