Payroll software from EARNIE - the payroll people

Exporting FAQs

How do I export a report to Microsoft Excel/Lotus etc.?

Preview the report as normal to the screen. At the top of the screen you will see an 'envelope' icon. Click on this icon and you will be able to choose an Export Format and Destination. You will then be able to specify a File Name and a Location to save the report.

If you do not get the option to export to a specific program, you may have some export dlls missing. If you contact Support and we can supply you with the necessary export dlls.

What data can be imported and exported from EARNIE?

The available importable/exportable fields are listed in a file called Fields32.xls which can be found in the folder where EARNIE/32 is installed.

Can I create just one import file for use with several companies?

No, you will need to use a separate file for each company.

How does EARNIE recognise and then subsequently deal with a new starter in the import file?

If the code does not already exist in EARNIE, it will create a new employee and treat them as a new starter.

How does EARNIE recognise and then subsequently deal with a leaver in the import file?

To make someone a leaver you will need to import an Active Status of 2 (Leaver this month) and a leaving date.

Can you accept a fixed format file, which only includes changes?

Yes, EARNIE will hold all data already imported so it is preferable to only import changes.

Can absence details be exported from EARNIE?

EARNIE stores absence details in an 'Absence Diary' which is not exposed to the standard import or export routines, however you CAN generate an absence report in EARNIE and export the report data to file. This would have to be separate from the other exports.
